Our doctors are up-to-date on all the latest developments in vision surgery.  Just saying that you want “laser surgery” isn’t enough anymore.  We can help you choose among traditional LASIK, all-laser LASIK, custom LASIK, PRK, and other laser procedures. While laser surgery remains the most popular surgical method for improving your vision, new procedures are better suited for many people.  Implantable contact lenses, INTACS, riboflavin treatment, and Ortho-K are non-laser therapies for improving your vision.  We can help you decide which one is best for you.  And we provide surgery consultations for free!

Ortho-k is short for “orthokeratology,” a non-surgical method of correcting vision without glasses or daytime contact lenses.  By wearing contact lenses only overnight during sleep, ortho-k gently reshapes the front of the eye to provide clear vision all day. Ortho-k is most popular among active people for whom wearing glasses or contacts during their sport, hobby, or job is less ideal. It’s perfect for swimmers & water polo players. Because it is non-surgical, ortho-k is safe and appropriate for kids, teens, and adults. Further, studies show that ortho-k actually slows and reduces the progression of nearsightedness in young patients! At our office, ortho-k consultations are free of charge.

Vitamins and other nutritional supplements have been a focus of vigorous research in the last decade.  The National Eye Institute’s Age-Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS) proved that certain vitamins can help delay or prevent blindness in people with macular degeneration.  Other scientific studies have demonstrated the benefits of omega fish oils, lutein, zeaxanthin, gingko biloba, and others.  Research indicates that supplements can help with dry eyes, glaucoma, and diabetes, as well as macular degeneration.
